Success Stories with Robot Mats
Success Stories: Colorado
We had our team kickoff, and the team was very intent on studying the training mat! The challenge: follow the curvy line. This was a difficult assignment, but rewarding as well! We plan to integrate many more training activities with this mat as the team learns how best to design and program the bot!
Success Stories: Florida
The rookie team took to the mat well because there are so many straight-forward programming challenges from "follow the line" to "stop on black". The veteran team members were especially excited about refining their turning precision with the use of the compass. As a coach, the Techbrick Robomat is my new favorite "get the kids programming fast" trick.
Success Stories: Hawaii
We found the mat very helpful. For the new kids, they got to see what an FLL mat will look like and how the robots will use the mat in the new challenge. What the kids got excited about were the thick solid lines that allowed them to test their programs. It boosted their confidence that they actually for the first time wrote their own line following programs that worked.
Success Stories: Pennsylvania
Instead of every mission relying on dead reckoning and perfect starting alignment, the robot can assess the environment and decide which way to go based on the parameters it was given. The best part is that this can be done, without the time pressure associated with an upcoming tournament. We feel confident that with what we have learned from using this tool, we can build on what we learned last year and have a great second season! Highly recommend it.
Success Stories: West Virginia
As an educator my biggest delight with this mat is to have the kids "see" the lines as the bots do.
It was wonderful to have kids really get a feel for the light sensor information.
